With six representatives in charge of reservations and eighteen representatives in two shifts at the counter, the Office of Goods of PSA Voltri-Pra is a point of reference for all the truck drivers that pass through our terminal.
In fact, the Office of Goods carries out the administrative work associated with document checks that are inherent in the handling of goods and containers. The office then releases the “Certificate of Interchange”, the official document which carries the serial number of the container to be moved, its ship of destination and of origin, the weight VGM and other fundamental information for the loading and unloading operations within the Terminal.
The procedure
After parking the truck in one of two dedicated parking spots, the truck driver can collect any missing documents directly from the shipping agents office of Varco, grouped in the CSP Consortium, stationed within our terminal. After that, the truck driver can go to the counter, where they first fulfill a series of preliminary operations in one of the installed interactive totems before turning in all of the documentation to the agents of the Office of Goods.
The agents must ensure that all of the information is correct, especially regarding the identity of the driver, the waybill, the customs documentation and the safety data sheets that accompany containers with dangerous goods.
The Badge of the Port Authority
We must not forget that based on the current safety regulations, access to the international area of the Terminal, and therefore, access to the totems and counters of the Office of Goods, is permitted only by presenting a badge issued by the Genova Port Authority.
