A small but relevant part of handling traffic at VTE occurs in Break Bulk mode or Out of Gauge (OOG). In this article we will elaborate on Out of Gauge cargo traffic.
Out of Gauge traffic includes all loads that exceed the internal dimensions of a standard container by height, width or length. One example of this is the Open Top containers, for which the upper part is covered by a large tarp rather than by a hard roof. Unlike Break Bulk traffic, Out of Gauge is identified by the serial number of the container with which the cargo is traveling.
