PSA Voltri-Pra is constantly searching for ways to make the terminal’s daily activities more efficient and environmentally sustainable. For this reason, the intermodal continuation of the import containers is something the terminal has always focused on.
Thanks to its nine internal platforms, which are 950 meters long and serviced by three cranes, PSA Voltri-Pra has weekly and daily direct connections to all the main interports of Northern Italy. Padua, Milan, Reggio Emilia, Verona, and Alessandria are the main destinations toward which the containers carry on their route on national soil. From these important railway stopovers, the containers are then sorted on trains that depart for all the most important cities of Central Europe.
In particular, the direct service to Melzo terminal (Milan) that departs from PSA Voltri-Pra fourteen times a week, offers at least three weekly connections to Duisburg (Germany), five weekly connections to Frenkendorf (Switzerland) and seven to Rotterdam (Holland). The container transportation activity to these destinations, like the terminal activity at Melzo, are provided by Contship Group Italia, through the multimodal transportation operator Hannibal and the terminal company Rail Hub Milan. They set the example for maritime container-transport logistics.
