The Terminal is being equipped with 50 new bollards to be added to the existing 50 already onsite. The first two bollards were installed at the end of April and were subjected to a stress test to verify their grip. The positive results of this test, combined with the authorisation of the Port Captaincy, has allowed them to be used for the first time for the mooring of the ‘Al Maruba’ ship.
Once the construction is completed in 2017, the quay will be equipped with a bollard every thirteen metres, each one with a capacity of 150 tonnes.
